Working principle of bucket elevator
The hopper scoops up the material from the storage below, lifts it to the top with the conveyor belt, passes around the top wheel, and flips downwards. The bucket elevator pours the material into the receiving trough. The transmission belt of a bucket elevator with belt drive is generally made of rubber belt, which is installed on the lower or upper transmission drum and the upper and lower reversing drums. A bucket elevator with chain drive is generally equipped with two parallel drive chains, with a pair of drive sprockets on the top or bottom and a pair of reversing sprockets on the bottom or top. Bucket elevators are generally equipped with a casing to prevent dust from flying in the bucket elevator.

1. The elevator is maintained and managed by designated personnel, and the key to the power switch box is managed by designated personnel.
2. The hoist must have a hoist limiter and a travel limiter, and the limiter should enable the pulley to automatically stop before lifting to a distance of 300mm from the drum or pulley.
3. The hoist should have a maximum load mark, and the weight should not exceed the load limit (1T) during lifting and landing.
4. After power transmission, check the safety devices such as the hoist limiter, travel limiter, interlock switch, etc. for sensitive and reliable operation, and conduct a trial lifting.
5. Before lifting or landing, the car can only be driven after sounding the alarm bell.
6. Elevators are strictly prohibited from carrying people up and down.
7. After the work is completed, the lifting platform of the hoist should land, then cut off the power and close the upper and lower guardrail doors.
8. Regularly maintain the hygiene of the surrounding environment of the elevator.
Main features of bucket elevator
1. Low driving power, using inflow feeding, induction unloading, and large capacity hopper dense layout. There is almost no material return or excavation during material lifting, so there is less ineffective power.
2. The lifting range is wide, and this type of lifting machine has fewer requirements for the types and characteristics of materials. It can not only lift general powder and small granular materials, but also improve materials with high grindability, good sealing, and less environmental pollution.
3. Good operational reliability, standard design principles and processing methods ensure the reliability of the entire machine, with a fault free time exceeding 20000 hours. The lifting height is high, and the elevator runs smoothly, so it can achieve a higher lifting height.
4. Long service life, the feeding of the elevator adopts an inflow type, without the need for digging with a bucket, and there is little squeezing and collision between materials. This machine is designed to ensure that materials are less scattered during feeding and unloading, reducing mechanical wear and tear.
Common faults and troubleshooting methods of bucket elevator
Bucket elevator is a commonly used equipment for vertically conveying granular and powdery materials. Common faults mainly focus on abnormal operation noise, insufficient conveying capacity, and chain/belt deviation. The corresponding troubleshooting methods are as follows:
Abnormal noise or vibration during operation
-Common reasons: collision between hopper and casing; Bearing wear or insufficient lubrication; Loose chain/belt causing tooth skipping; Foreign objects have entered the aircraft.
-Exclusion method: Adjust the position of the hopper to ensure even clearance with the casing (usually 5-10mm); Replace worn bearings and add suitable lubricating oil (such as calcium based grease); Tighten the chain/belt and adjust the tensioning device; Stop the machine to clean up foreign objects inside, check if the hopper is deformed and repair it.

Insufficient conveying capacity
-Common reasons: low filling coefficient of hopper (not filled with materials); The speed of the conveyor belt/chain is too slow; Blockage of feed inlet or insufficient feed quantity; The wear and deformation of the hopper lead to material leakage.
-Exclusion method: Adjust the feeding speed to ensure that the hopper filling coefficient reaches 0.7-0.8; Check the motor speed or transmission ratio, and increase the conveyor belt/chain speed appropriately; Clean up blockages at the feed inlet to ensure smooth feeding; Replace the worn-out and deformed hopper, and repair the gaps caused by material leakage.

Chain or conveyor belt deviation
-Common reasons: The axis of the head wheel and tail wheel are not parallel; Uneven tension of chains/belts; The position of the feeding port is offset, resulting in material loading deviation; The roller or guide wheel is not installed correctly.
-Exclusion method: Adjust the head wheel and tail wheel to ensure that the axis is parallel and perpendicular to the centerline of the aircraft; Adjust the tensioning device to ensure consistent tension on both sides of the chain/belt; Correct the position of the feed inlet to ensure that the material falls evenly into the hopper; Adjust the idler or guide wheel to align with the direction of the chain/belt.

The hopper falls off
-Common reasons: Loose or broken bolts connecting the hopper to the chain/belt; The connecting parts are severely worn; Hard debris mixed into the material, causing it to fall off due to impact on the hopper.
-Exclusion method: Regularly check the connecting bolts, tighten loose bolts, and replace broken bolts; Repair or replace worn connecting components; Strengthen the filtration of the feed inlet to prevent hard debris from entering the machine.

Motor overload
-Common reasons: excessive conveying capacity, exceeding the motor load; Blockage of materials inside the machine increases resistance; Bearing jamming or lubrication failure; Motor itself malfunction (such as winding short circuit).
-Exclusion method: Reduce the conveying capacity to match the rated load of the motor; Stop the machine and clean up the blocked materials inside, check if the feeding and discharging are unobstructed; Replace the stuck bearing and add lubricating oil; Check the motor, repair or replace faulty components.
