Fixtures can be categorized by their usage characteristics as follows: ① Universal fixtures. These include machine vises, chucks, suction cups, dividing heads, and rotary tables. These are highly versatile and adaptable to changes in machining processes and workpieces. Their structures are standardized, and their sizes and specifications are standardized. Most have become standard accessories for machine tools. ② Specialized fixtures. These are specifically designed and manufactured to clamp specific product parts in a specific process. They serve a specific purpose and are highly targeted. They are generally designed by the manufacturer. Commonly used fixtures include lathe fixtures, milling machine fixtures, drilling jigs (machine tool fixtures used to guide tools when drilling or reaming holes in workpieces), boring dies (machine tool fixtures used to guide boring bars when boring holes in workpieces), and portable fixtures (mobile fixtures used on modular machine tool automated production lines). ③ Adjustable fixtures. These are specialized fixtures that allow for replacement or adjustment of components. ④ Combination fixtures. A fixture composed of standardized components of different shapes, specifications and uses is suitable for new product trials and single-piece, small-batch production and temporary tasks with frequent product replacement. Lathe fixtures The fixtures used to process the inner and outer rotating surfaces and end faces of workpieces on lathes are called lathe fixtures. Most lathe fixtures are installed on the spindle, and a few are installed on the saddle or bed. Three-coordinate fixtures Used on measuring machines, they use their modular support and reference devices to complete the flexible fixation of the measured workpiece. The device can be automatically programmed to support the workpiece and establish unlimited workpiece configuration reference points. Advanced dedicated software can directly generate the workpiece clamping program within seconds based on the workpiece's geometric data.
